FC Barcelona announced on Friday evening that it will sign the young Palmeiras player, Mateus Fernandez, during the current winter transfers.
According to the official statement, which the club posted on its website, Matthews will join the Blaugrana classes on July 1, 2020.
He added: "The cost of the deal will be 7 million euros in addition to 3 million euros as variables, and the player will sign a contract for 5 seasons, until the end of the 2024-2025 season, with a penalty clause of 300 million euros."
Matthews, 21, plays in the center of the defensive midfield and enjoys great defensive capabilities, as well as leaving the ball from back to front. He is 1.83 meters long, and he recovers the ball using his right foot.
